Hippo Groove Predecessor Hippo Boom IEM Headphone

Do you know about hippo product?  my first introduction with Hippo product it’s from

www.audiophile-id.com  and from jaben network Singapore www.jaben.net

 My first purchase hippo products from jaben network are hippo boom with bundle Fiio e5 and Hippo Mp3.

But a several week ago my friends purchase hippo Grove, I little curious what is the predecessor boom improvement?

Both Hippo Groove and  Hippo Boom are IEM (In Ear Monitor) type of head phone,  so this ear phone have silicon tips that able to isolate sound in your environment .  Both silicon tips provide good Isolation, this silicon are soft and comfortable when used more than two hour.

For testing I am using several DAP:

1. Sansa Clip Plus
2. Samsung YP-s3
3. BB Torch
4. Ipad First Edition

For Song I am Using this for reference:

Song  1:

• Genre: slow hip hop

• Artist : Jung Sungha
• Genre:  acoustic guitar instrument
• Bit rate : 320

• Title :  twilight Beguine
• Artist : Anny Sally
• Genre:  Jazz accoustic
• Bit rate : 256
• Format: mp3

Lets start to do some Test :

1.The First song 1 Niki Minaj “Your Love”

Hippo Boom:

The powerful bass felt really good for this song, as we know the hip hop song usually dominant in their bass. From The beginning until the end of this song would be felt really satisfied . the simple boom from this song  enough felt deep.

Hippo groove:

For this song  hippo Groove not really bad, Bass still felt and soft. Not too strong  and not feel like floating bass but enough deep

2. Second Song  Jung Sungha “Hazy Sun Shine”

Hippo Boom:

Instrument for  guitar felt really rounded and you will felt the vibration wave from this song

Hippo groove:

It’s different from the hippo boom type. This song extraction felt detailing in this guitar instrument and sharp but soft. The bass really balance with the instrument from the guitar.  The acoustic atmosphere when you’re listen to this song won’t be eliminate with bass dominant it’s really different when you listen the “Hazy Sun shine” using  hippo boom.

3. Third Song  ann Sally “twilight Beguine”

Hippo Boom:

In this song vocal and acoustic almost covered with the bass from the hippo head set.

Hippo groove:

Ohh… sway and really enjoy this song..  Each word that sing from the singer (vocals) felt really appears, the acoustic felt detailing just like when I listen “Hazy Sun Shine”, bass really balance and nice not weak but  the power really nice.

Summary:

Hippo Boom:

Hmm. The hippo Boom bass  felt powerful character and rock hahaha….  I am one from all the people who like bass domination… but this ear phone really nice when you listen for the song with dominant bass.

Hippo Groove:

Hmmm.. not like the usual ear phone with the  detailing acoustic felt fair, usually the ear phone with detailing instrument usually too sharp your ear would be tired if listen too long.. This is really Different from this ear phone; the treble detailing, the vocal appear and not covered, bass enough powerful but not too dominant and balance. This is the nice combination.

My own oppinon:

I am usually like to listen song ; jazz, bosas jazz, Blues, Mandarin Audio phile, accouctic jazz, hip hop, pop. Hahah almost all :P.
I still love the boom because I really like warm and bassy sound, but hippo groove have fair high sound and still need improve their bass.
